Car Insurance is of course a necessary burden for the majority of the United Kingdom; it's yet another unfortunate expense that comes with owning a car in Britain. However, if you are a new driver and looking to get the best type of insurance on the market you may not be completely sure of what all of these types of insurance include.
Third Party Fire and Theft Insurance:
This one is pretty straight forward. Third Party means that if you are in an accident the cover will allow a claim for any damage to persons in the other drivers' car and any damaged obtained by that drivers vehicle. Any emergency medical attention will be covered but it depends on your insurance company as to whether ongoing medical needs will be and for how long.
Fire will cover you for any fire damage obtained while in an accident, and also if the car is vandalised and torched. Theft is a bit more of a blurry area and again depends on your specific policy and the company offering it. Some of the time this is only covered 100% if your car was on the specific place you told your insurance company about when you took out the policy (For example, a designated parking space or home drive). Other times you will be covered elsewhere as long as your car was not placed somewhere carelessly or illegally.
Fully comp(rehensive) Insurance:
This is the most complete of insurances you can take out for your car. This cover will allow you to claim for all of the above in Third Party Fire and Theft as well as extra aspects such as broken windows, vandalism for scratches and stolen wheels, and objects such as the CD and Radio or Laptops inside the car. You car is covered for all damage as well as the other persons in the event of a crash. You will expect to pay more for this type of cover and it is harder to build up a no claims bonus if you are going to claim for all parts.
If you need to get some car insurance try to do your research first. insurance companies always have offers on you can use. Be sure to look into breakdown cover too! |
