Insurance Comparison Shopping - A Highly Misunderstood But Very Beneficial Process

By Chimezirim Chinecherem Odimba

Many people do NOT really know what proper comparison shopping for insurance policies is. And for those who claim to know, there's usually a big misunderstanding. This leads to a poor strategy that gives rise to results that are less beneficial than they could really be. What is this misunderstanding and what is the right position that will result in massive savings?

The big misunderstanding is this: Once you've taken measures to reduce your risk to insurers and get multiple quotes from a quotes site, you've done excellent comparison shopping. Nothing could be farther from the truth and with good reason...

Yes, getting multiple quotes from a quotes site helps you see offers from a wide range of insurers. However, it does NOT give you the opportunity of seeing offers from a wide enough range of insurers. This is because the typical quotes site only returns quotes from between five and twelve insurance companies.

But consider this: There are over 2,000 insurance companies in the US. Yes, granted -- Not all of these companies are licensed to provide coverage in your state. However, if just a fifth of them are, you'll be missing out offers from close to 400 insurers. This could mean you'll pay more by either a few dollars or by up to $1,000.

Therefore, in order to ensure you get the very best offers from as many insurers as possible, get and compare quotes from NOT less than five or more reputable quotes site.

The process just takes about five minutes per site. So if you're visiting five sites, you'll only spend about 25 minutes. That, for me, is a small price for the opportunity of saving hundreds of dollars each year.

Here are great pages for insurance quotes...
