Considering Cheap Breakdown Cover

By Mark Flanighan

The weather is at its best this time of year, the kids are off school and typical it will be the period where we go on holiday, pack our holiday things, the kids and head off to our chosen holiday area. Sometimes a but of pre thought will go into the car we own, should we get some breakdown cover in case we breakdown?

As many of us, really use our cars for long distances; with commuting to work and the school run being our main mileage increasers, there then becomes the situation where you intend to do longer mileage, away from home at holiday time.

The most common action is to look for those special offers that all breakdown cover operators present at this time of year, to get you become their customer, but this is often a huge mistake. The special offers always tend to be the most basic of cover, sometimes called roadside assistance or a similar term. This means an engineer or garage will attend your breakdown, try and get you on your way. This may be fine if you are only a few miles away from home, but the plying field changes if you are hundreds of miles away. This is because, if the car cannot be fixed, or the fault is something like brakes, that no one will fix be the roadside anyway, then your car will be towed to the nearest garage only.

In short this cheap breakdown cover policy has become very expensive. With a bit of hindsight and research a policy that would get your car home or to anywhere in the UK, with your family may be a better consideration. The extra cost may seem expensive at the time, but compared to the true cost of transporting your vehicle home and the possible loss of your holiday, could add to many times the cost of your policy.

To be fair the cheap breakdown cover policy providers, do claim that around 4 out of 5 call out are fixed by the road, so the percentages are on your side and like all insurance policies, you always feel you don't need them until you need to make a claim. But the facts are that thousands of motorists this summer will be towed to the nearest garage and will fork out a huge sum of money to get that car back on the road, or transported back home.

So the next time you are looking for cheap breakdown cover, decide what that term really means. Does it mean low cost to buy initially or do you really mean, saving money to get your car fixed or transported back home where you can make your own arrangements, in your own time and negotiate your own budget to have the repairs done, or even do them yourself. The difference to your stress levels, patience and wallet could be huge.

Deciding what cheap breakdown cover means to you may mean more to you in the long run, than you ever thought.

Car Insurance - Avoiding an Accident

By Liam Gerken

The UK now has roughly 33 million registered vehicles on its roads, and this figure is ever increasing. Correlating with this is the number of road related deaths, which two years ago was roughly 258,000. With congested roads filled with frantic motorists its imperative that you are clued up on basic road tips both for your sake and that of others.

First and foremost, never, ever drive while under the influence of alcohol or any other intoxicating substance. Even though this is against the law in every established country, with heavy penalty's being imposed on those found guilty - it is still a wide-spread problem. Not only does alcohol give you a false sense of ability, but it slows vital reaction times down considerably.

Tailgating, or following the car in front too closely, is another major contributor to road accidents in the UK. When tailgating you are essentially cutting off the view of any activity ahead of the car in front of you and reducing the amount of time you have to react to any sudden changes the car ahead makes. The space in between you and the car ahead should be considered as a sort of "buffer", as a rule of thumb leave a two second gap, four seconds when wet and 10 when icy.

Following on from the above point, many motorists fail to adjust their driving speed based on the condition of the road. When the road is wet or icy, braking times are increased considerably - your speed should therefore be adjusted accordingly. Minimising the number of distractions you have while driving also helps a tremendous amount, common distractions include, hand-held phones, loud music, eating food etc.

Having a good idea of what is going on around your vehicle at all times is imperative, relying solely on your mirrors is not enough - its important that you check your "blind spots" before slowing down or changing lanes etc.

Needless to say the roads are only as safe as the motorists using them, and you can exercise all the caution in the world but if someone else slips up then you too could end up paying the price.

For this reason it's vital that you have adequate motor insurance. If you feel you are currently paying too much for your insurance then the internet is an excellent place to compare car insurance and get a cheap car insurance quote.

How Does Auto Insurance Work When You Loan Your Car to Another?

By Kian Chew Chong

Most of us have been in the scenario; a friend or relative wants to borrow your car, but you're not sure about exactly what will happen should they be involved in an accident. Are they covered? If so, how? Do they use your insurance policy or theirs? Hopefully those questions will be answered for you.

If a friend or relative wants to borrow your vehicle, the first thing you should do is consider their driving record. If the person is close to you, you probably have a pretty good idea about what sort of driver they are. If you've ever ridden with them while they were driving and you found out that they were a speed demon, swerving in and out of traffic and scaring the heck out of you, it's probably not a good idea to lend them your vehicle. If, on the other hand, the drive was fairly unmemorable, chances are it was uneventful and pleasant. Such a driver will probably take great care when driving your vehicle. If you really don't know much about the person's driving record or driving habits, it's probably not a good idea to lend them your vehicle.

Once you have determined that the person is trustworthy enough to drive your vehicle, the next thing you should do is call your insurance company or agent. Simply ask them whether or not others are covered when driving your vehicle. Chances are, when you signed up for the auto insurance policy, the insurance company representative you were dealing with asked you whether or not you wanted any other people added to your policy, such as a spouse or other family member. These people are already covered on the auto insurance policy for your vehicle if you previously added them. If not, you should be able to add them right then and there.

On the other hand, if you don't foresee this person driving your vehicle on a regular basis and don't want to add them to your policy, you can simply ask the representative whether or not others are covered when driving your vehicle. Auto insurance policies do vary, but in general, the insurance stays with the vehicle. In other words, as long as the person borrowing the vehicle has a valid driver's license and was willingly lent the vehicle, it is covered. Some policies, however, offer no such coverage, so it is always best to ask. Don't forget that the premium agreement you made with the insurance company was based on your driving record, not someone else's, and if you plan on lending your vehicle out to someone on a regular basis, you should add them to your policy. Depending on their record, however, your premium may increase.

The answer to the question of "How does auto insurance work when you loan your car to another?" is fairly simple. In most cases, the insurance follows the car. Any damage incurred when someone else is driving your vehicle is covered by your insurance policy and you are responsible for it. Any claim made will undoubtedly increase your premium, so consider well who you loan your vehicle out to.

Can You Resume Your Auto Insurance Policy Once it Was Canceled?

By Kian Chew Chong

Many young people that are fairly new to the auto insurance world are being cancelled due to non-payment or late payment. So many of these young people are wondering if you can resume your policy once it is cancelled.

Discount auto insurance companies such as, no-fault have become very popular with young adults, because they provide the minimum of coverage for a very low rate. Since these young adults do not really understand the concept of a car insurance policy, they just understand that it is against the law not to have it at all.

I feel that the insurance policy needs to be explained in a greater detail for these young adults, even though it was explained to them at the time they purchased it. That is the times when people are in such a hurry to get protected that they usually only hear part of the conversation. Therefore they really do not know what their policy does, nor do they know what their car actually covered.

We will break down the policy and explain what each section means. Your policy comes to you in pages, and once it is opened usually the first page will have the name of your insurance company, the policy number and the time period of the payment, (the time that the policy is good for). This section is called the effective date section. In the middle of the page you will also see the name and address of your car insurance carrier. If you have been paying your premium in monthly installments, this will be listed here, with the total amount of the policy and the number of payments that you have left.

The next page will have your insurance card on it. You are to put this card in a safe place within your auto, preferably with the other papers that police usually ask for in case you are ever involved in an accident. This card will have your insurance company, the type of coverage you have and the ID number of your auto, as well as the make and model.

The next page will have any exclusions that you have entered at the time of purchase, such as if you are the only person on your coverage that is allowed to drive your vehicle.

To answer the question of this article "can you resume your auto insurance policy once it was cancelled", I actually called an agency to find out. The response that I was given was that although all insurance companies are different, as to how they handle this situation, some companies do allow you to pick up the same policy, but your are put on a high risk list, which will make your cover rates to increase for a period of time. However, some companies do not do this. This is not the case with the car insurance institute that I talked to. Their policy was that in that situation people were allowed 30 days to reinstate their coverage, with no penalties at all. This means that in that 30 day time period you can get your coverage and would not have to pay any extra money, or be considered a high risk.

I do hope that this article will help people understand the importance of keeping their auto insurance payments up to date. This is one of the most important things that they can do.

Insurance Score - What it Is, How it Affects Your Auto Insurance Rates and How to Make it Serve You

By Chimezirim Chinecherem Odimba

Do you know what your insurance score is? Do you know what affects it? Do you know how it's used to determine what you pay as rates? Do you know how to adjust it to your advantage? This article will help you with all these questions...

First let's define the term...

According to the Insurance Information Institute it is "a numerical ranking based on a person's credit history." Studies have shown a correlation between the way a person manages his/her finance and their likelihood of filing a claim.

Those who have poor scores are statistically more likely to file claims. Therefore, this makes it rather clear that the better a person insurance score is, then the cheaper their rates will be all other things being equal.

Furthermore, since this score is based solely on a person's credit history, it goes to say that to get a better score, one needs to take steps to improve his/her credit rating.

Steps to improve your credit rating...

1. Pay your bills on time. Never miss payments. These will affect your credit rating negatively. That's apart from the facts that you'll have to pay more as interest and that your creditor might be compelled to increase your interest rates due to the risk involved in lending to you.

2. Check your credit report yearly and make sure you correct any errors you find.

3. As much as possible, use only a few credit cards.

4. Make sure you do NOT use more than 30% of your available credit at any point in time.

So what else can you do to get cheaper insurance rates?

Much as most (If not all) insurers use your insurance score to determine your rate, they do NOT all give it the same relevancy score. Remember, there are many other factors that are used to determine a prospect's risk or otherwise to an insurer.

Furthermore, different insurers target different markets and as well have different loss histories among other things. This simply means that you'll get different quotes from different insurers.

Therefore, to get the best rate quote, make sure you get and compare quotes from a wide range of reputable insurers.

Auto Insurance - Who Says Loyalty Pays? It Doesn't

By Chimezirim Chinecherem Odimba

Contrary to what you might be made to believe, loyalty hardly ever pays in auto insurance. Yes, I know about the loyalty discount touted by many insurers but how useful is it? I'll get deep into it...

Have you ever experienced an increase in auto insurance rate as you got your renewal notice? Did you ever pretend to be a new prospect and tried getting a quote from that same insurer using, may be, a friend's name?

If you haven't, try it and you might be in for a rude shock: Insurers need new policyholders and one of the main ways they do attract them is by offering them lower introductory rates (Of course, at your expense -- Loyal policyholder).

You may argue that by your length of stay with this insurer you now enjoy 5, 10 or even 15% loyalty discount -- And so what?

Is it better to get a 15% loyalty discount on an annual premium of $2,400 when you could get the same coverage for $1,800 from another insurer?

Don't take my word for it (Even though close to 16 million drivers switch insurers every six months -- What could be the reason?)...

Get and compare quotes from five or more reputable auto insurance quotes sites and see if you won't get a better deal. And lest, I forget, do this every six months and you'll enjoy the very best rates always (or at least for as long as insurers keep playing this game).

Final point: It pays to switch especially for as long as there are better deals out there. It just makes sense to go were it's more profitable for you.

Auto Insurance Quotes - Why You Should Get New Quotes Today

By Chimezirim Chinecherem Odimba

If you want to pay a lot less for auto insurance, then you need to get quotes and lots of them. However, after landing that great deal, for how long do you wait before getting another set of quotes? Are there good enough reasons for you to revisit the quoting process? Let's see...

1. Policy change within a company can cause a dramatic reduction in rates for new policy holders. This might NOT be evident to existing policy holders.

Since competition in the insurance industry is fierce, companies have to check their pricing in order to remain competitive. Furthermore, what other ways are there for an insurer to attract new prospects if NOT an offer of a cheaper rate?

2. Something might have changed in your profile without your taking conscious note of it. Do you know that some people end up paying hundreds of dollars for unused cars in their garage?

If you go about getting quotes again, it will make it imperative that you review your coverage needs. And once you do that, you'll spot things that are NO longer necessary.

3. Your insurance needs might have changed. For example, you may want to drop collision or comprehensive coverage for one of your older cars as it might NO longer be in your best interest to keep maintaining such on your policy.

4. You might have found a way of lowering certain aspects of your insurance cost and this might mean adjusting your coverage details. For example, a person might decide to reduce his/her auto liability coverage to the barest minimum required by law.

This might be because he/she has discovered that he/she will do better with an umbrella policy for all his/her liability coverage requirements.

5. Some people simply did NOT do extensive shopping before buying a policy with their present insurer. By this I mean they got less than 25 quotes from different insurers when they bought their current policy.

This is certainly inadequate if you consider the fact that there are over 2,000 insurers in the US alone. The best results are achieved when you get a very wide range of quotes.

Most people will definitely discover that they fall into one of the categories above. And, if that's the case, then you need to get quotes from a very wide range of insurers as quickly as possible if want to ensure you do NOT pay more than you should.

You have NO excuse since the entire process is quick, free and has no obligations attached.

Auto Insurance - Can't I Do Without It?

By Chimezirim Chinecherem Odimba

Auto insurance can be very expensive for some folks. However, is doing without it a viable alternative? We'll look at a number of angles to this that will help you make a very informed decision.

1. If you decide NEVER to drive then you'll never be a law-breaker even without auto insurance coverage. However, think of emergency and other situations that will but you in an awkward position if you limit yourself this way.

2. If you choose to "call their bluff" and drive without it you can get away with it for some time. But bear in mind that you could land yourself in a serious mess when you get caught.

At best, the penalties for non-compliance with insurance laws are a substantial fine, license and/or registration suspension or revocation. But it can get worse: A jail term.

3. Apart from the legal perspective, you stand to lose if another uninsured driver hits your car, if your car is vandalized, if your car is stolen or damaged beyond repair, the list goes on.

4. If you own substantial assets, attorneys of victims of accidents where you're at fault can go for them. Depending on how much you're worth, this could be a devastating blow to your investments of life savings.

Looking at the above reasons, being without auto insurance certainly isn't a viable alternative. Here are better options...

1. Get the minimum required by your state. Although this might NOT give you the best coverage, it will, at least, keep you on the right side of the law.

2. Take some time out to do thorough comparison shopping. This way you'll get auto insurance coverage for a lot less...

The entire process is as simple as visiting a site and filling a short form for which you get up to five or more quotes from different insurers. Repeat this simple process with five or more reputable quotes sites and you'll definitely find an offer that will be very mild on your pocket while giving you considerable coverage.

Affordable Car Insurance - Safety Features That Will Get You Lower Rates

By Chimezirim Chinecherem Odimba

In calculating what you pay as premium, insurers take a lot of factors into consideration. Therefore, if you want affordable car insurance, you'd have to be on the right side of those factors. In this article, I'll go deep into safety features and which you should endeavor to have in your car if want to pay a lot less...

Safety features in your automobile reduce the likelihood of claims and, where claims are made, reduce the amount claimed. Therefore, they reduce the risk an insurer assumes by insuring you. But which are worthy of your time and investment?

1. Airbags: You know those bags that spring open when there is a crash, don't you? Apart from keeping you safer while you're in a vehicle, it helps cut down your rate.

2. Anti-Lock Brakes: These prevent your wheels from locking if you slam on your brake. This gives you more control in difficult situations and also reduces your stopping distance. Although NOT all states make it mandatory for insurers to give discounts to policyholders who have this feature in their cars, you'll do well to discuss with your agent if you car has this.

3. Theft-Deterrent Features: Car alarms and keyless entries fall into this category. Thieving rats will generally think twice before going for vehicles with such features.

4. Automatic seat belts: Apart from the fact that seat belts are required by law, some vehicles go further by adding a feature that makes it impossible for you to ride in them without wearing the seat belts. Discuss with your agent if your car has such extra feature.

5. Etch Your VIN. Having your VIN etched on your windows will help deter thieves as this will make it difficult for them to resell stolen items.

I know folks who have their VIN etched onto their fenders/bumpers. Just go ahead and do it wherever it makes sense -- Just don't disfigure your car.

All these safety devices will help cut down your auto insurance rate. But the question is "by how much?" This depends on the insurer...

Different insurers have different relevancy scores for the different factors that are used to determine your rate. Therefore, get and compare quotes from a wide range of insurers.

This way, you'll find the insurer who has the best deal for you. And, don't forget to discuss all measures you've got in place with your agent.

Affordable Car Insurance in Spite of Tickets and Moving Violations

By Chimezirim Chinecherem Odimba

Tickets and moving violations make it more difficult for you to enjoy affordable car insurance. But note that it does NOT in anyway make it impossible. The following should help you take charge and drive down your rates.

1. Know that you're NOT alone. Even though this should NOT be an excuse for recklessness, we all are capable of moving violations. Yes, even the best of drivers make mistakes or allow their emotions to dictate to them sometimes.

The mere fact that you understand that being guilty of moving violations doesn't make you a villain gives you the opportunity to review your actions and options intelligently. Furthermore, you'll be in a better position to avoid a repeat.

2. Moving violations that you think are undeserved should be contested in a traffic court. And if they are reversed, make sure you inform your agent so that you can enjoy the well-deserved relief.

3. Moving violations are usually kept on your driving record for three years in most states (Some states are known to keep them for up to five years). However, many drivers still pay high rates long after those violations have been removed from their records.

You have a responsibility if this applies to you. Inform your agent and make sure your insurer adjusts your rates to reflect the positive change. What if they don't? Then it's time to shop for another insurer -- With a clean record, you can easily get far lower rates with ease.

4. In many states you can take traffic school in exchange for a dismissal of a moving violation. However, bear in mind that this depends largely on the type of violation involved.

5. Even if you have multiple violations on your driving record (definitely NOT good), you can take advantage of insurers that specialize in insuring high risk drivers. Since they have a better understanding of high risk drivers, you can easily get lower rates with them depending on other factors in your profile.

Insurers are always adjusting rates. Furthermore, they all do NOT have exactly the same rate quotes for similar profiles. Therefore, you'll save a lot if you take out some time to get and compare quotes from a wide range of insurance companies.

Low Cost Car Insurance - How to Get Low Cost Car Insurance For Anybody

By Benjamin Robert Ehinger

When you purchase an insurance policy you are paying for protection that the insurance company is hoping you will never have to use. This is how they make their money. It is most likely that the average consumer will never have an expensive claim and over their lifetime they will pay more for insurance than they will get in claims from the insurance company. You need to use the following tips to get low cost car insurance and make sure you shop smart.

You need to know that the lowest rates are not always found at the largest of insurance companies. This is why you need to shop around until you find the right rate for you. You have to remember that the smaller companies have to keep their rates low in order to stay competitive and in business. However, they may not be able to offer you road side assistance or rental car reimbursement. They also will not be charging you for them like the larger companies will. Larger companies like to make it seem that they are giving you all these types of goodies for free, but they are being paid for by you in your premium. You can, however, have these removed from any policy if you wish to do so.

You should also get a copy of your credit report. It is a little known fact that credit does have an effect on your insurance premium. If you have bad credit you are more of a risk to insure than someone that has good credit. The people with good credit are the ones that will have a better chance to get low cost car insurance, but if you have bad credit you can work on raising your credit score and watch your insurance rates fall.

There are times during the year that insurance companies are in heavy competition and are going to lower their rates to try to lure clients from other insurance companies to them. This is not something that they really advertise very much and it is pretty quiet, but if you can catch an insurance company doing this, then you can cash in on lower car insurance rates. When there are larger events going on to sell cars, then you should be shopping for car insurance. December and January are peak months to be getting your low cost car insurance.

Discount Auto Insurance - Many Different Ways to Get Discount Auto Insurance

By Benjamin Robert Ehinger

Are you trying to save money on your auto insurance? Do you want to cut your premiums and receive discount that you did not know about? There are many ways that you can get discount auto insurance and you need to know how to find the best possible rates for you. Here are some helpful tips to get you a lower insurance rate.

First, if you pay your insurance once a year instead of monthly you can save a couple hundred dollars. This will cut out the service fee for the monthly payments and will also cut out the risk for the insurance company that you might not pay for your insurance. This is a big deal for high risk drivers and those of you with bad credit.

The easiest way to pay your insurance in full is to use your tax return or some other large sum of money that you receive yearly, like a bonus or settlement check. This will give you a little more money to work with in your budget every month as well because your insurance will already have been paid.

Second, if you have teenage drivers on your policy and they get a "b" average in high School or College, then they will qualify for a 20% discount on their insurance. You can also get a discount for your teen drivers by sending them to driving school or drivers education. This looks great to insurance companies and they will extend around a 20% discount for your teens.

Last, if you do have bad credit, then start working to fix your credit, drive safely, and you will get discounts on your insurance as your credit gets better. Also, if you carry your home, life, auto, and other insurances all with one carrier they will extend a discount for you as well. These are all ways to get discount auto insurance, but the best way is to stay out of trouble on the roads.

Car Insurance Rates - How Do Traffic Tickets, Accidents and DWIs Affect Your Car Insurance Rates

By Benjamin Robert Ehinger

Do you know the true cost of a traffic ticket, an accident or a DWI when it comes to your car insurance rates? Do you know how long these things can have an affect on what you pay for your insurance each year? These are offenses that insurance companies take into consideration when they are deciding how much to charge you for your insurance. They are all reasons that your insurance rates will go up and you need to know how much you can expect to pay if you get a ticket, have an accident, or get caught drinking and driving.

First, let us discuss traffic tickets. When you get a ticket for speeding, if it is your first, you can usually use the deferment program and pay the ticket. This means that as long as you do not get another ticket within a year the insurance companies will never find out that you got a ticket because it will be removed from your record. If you can use this program, then you should do so. If you have already used the deferment program, then you will have to report the ticket to your insurance and this will cause your rates to go up from 50% to 150% of your current premium.

It will make a difference if you were going 20 miles or more over the speed limit because that is considered wreckless driving and you will have to pay even more on your insurance premium.

Second, let us discuss accidents. Even an accident that is not your fault will raise your rates some. This is due to the fact that somehow you were in the situation where you ended up in an accident. This will not raise your rates too much, but if you have a few of them in a year or so period of time, then it will have a heavy effect on your rates. Now if you have an accident that is your fault, then you better be prepared for your rates to skyrocket. They will at least double and might even triple in some cases. Accidents are one of the worst things when it comes to your insurance rates.

Last, let us discuss DWIs. These are the worst for your insurance. Beside the couple thousand in court costs, lawyer fees, probation fees, and alcohol class fees that you will pay, you can expect your insurance to jump about 200% to 500% for the next year, then it will go down a little if you do not have any infractions. After about 3 years it might make it back down to where it was before, but it may take up to 5 years. This will most likely bring the total cost of your DWI up to around $5,000 to $7,000 when you could have taken a cab for under $50 or rented a hotel room for under $100. Instead you will pay for it on your car insurance rates.

Car Insurance Rates For Teenagers

By Benjamin Robert Ehinger

Do you have a teenager that is getting ready to be of legal age to drive? Are you worried about how you are going to pay for the insurance that you will need for your teen driver? There are ways to get discounts for your teen driver and there are things that you should expect when it comes to car insurance rates for teenagers. Here are some tips to help you out.

Sure, it is true that your teen could cause your insurance rates to double, maybe even triple. This all has to do with the fact that there are more than triple the amount of accidents that involve someone under the age of 20 than involve someone that is over 20. This is why our insurance rates go down at 25. We have matured and we are now able to be safer on the roads.

Teenagers are just learning how to drive and too often we make mistakes and learn the hard way. When I was a teenager I was involved in 5 different accidents and two more before I turned 25. Now I have not been in a single one since I turned 25 and I have notices that I drive much safer and I am always watching out for the other guy.

You can get discounts for your teens by sending them to drivers school or drivers education classes. If the pass the classes and get their certificate, this can save you between 10% and 20% each year on your policy.

There is also a discount offered for good students, which are those with a "B" average or better. This is worth another 20% for your teen and your policy.

You can also get even lower rates if your driving record is clean and your teens driving record stays clean. Now you should not panic when they get their first speeding ticket or other infraction because it will probably happen. The first one is a bit of a freebie though because they can use the deferral program and as long as they do not get another ticket for a year it will be wiped off their record.

Car insurance rates for teenagers are very high and you should explain to your teenage driver why that is. By telling them about the dangers that they face you might just be able to put something in the back of their mind that will keep them safer on the roads.

Car Insurance Costs Teens - Will it Cost You an Arm and a Leg?

By Benjamin Robert Ehinger

You know as well as any other parent of a teenage son or daughter that car insurance for your teen and the vehicle they are driving is a must. Sure adding your teen to your policy is going to increase the rates, but that is the car insurance cost teens end up with because they are inexperienced drivers.

- You have to protect your teen due to the carelessness that is natural in teenage children

- You also have to keep in mind that there are many more accidents that involve drivers under the age of 20 than above the age of 20.

- You should expect your car insurance policy to go up anywhere from 100% to 500% when you add a teenage driver.

This does not mean that you should not or cannot allow your teen to drive. Sure it sounds unsafe, but there are steps you can take to ensure that your teen has a lower insurance rate and is safe.

1. If your teen maintains a "B" average during High School and College they will get a good student discount from most insurance companies and this can save you up to 20% on their policy.

2. If you enroll your teen in driving school or drivers education classes and they receive a certificate from the school, then you will most likely be able to get discount on your insurance. Plus your teen will learn safety when it comes to driving and that is a very important lesson to be learned.

3. Your driving record and your teens driving record being clean and staying clean is a must. This will give you lower premiums each and every year that you both drive safely.

4. Providing your teen with a safe car is a must as well. Make sure it has automatic seat belts, air bags, anti-lock breaks, and is not a sports car.

5. You would sit down and discuss with your teen why their insurance is so much higher than yours and make sure they are aware of all the dangers of driving.

6. You should also teach your teen how to report a claim, what to do during an emergency, and to never claim that an accident was their fault until the police arrive and they determine who was at fault. They are young and do not know so you have to teach them or they could end up getting blamed for an accident that was not their fault at all.

Saving Money on Your Auto Insurance Premiums

By Alisdair Cosgrove

Insurance cover is a valuable way to protect yourself and your belongings and one type of insurance cover is known as auto insurance. The difference between auto insurance and other forms of insurance cover is that other forms of insurance are optional but if you have a vehicle that you plan to drive on the road for business or pleasure use then you must legally have auto insurance in place.

Auto insurance is necessary because as well as protecting the policyholder it also provides protection for other people.

Over recent years the cost of auto insurance has really gone up, and there are some groups such as younger drivers, those with sportier cars, and those with driving claims and convictions, who could end up paying a fortune for auto insurance.

You can choose from three different types of auto insurance cover to suit your needs, preferences, and budget.

The most basic level of auto insurance cover is known as third party only cover, and this is the cheapest types of cover and provides very little protection for the policyholder, although it still protects third parties who suffer loss or damage as the result of an accident that was the policyholder's fault.

The next level up in terms of auto insurance cover is third party, fire, and theft cover. This level of cover offers more protection to the policyholder, but also costs more money than third party only cover. It offers protection for third parties as well as for the policyholder in the event that the car is fire damaged or stolen.

Finally there is fully comprehensive auto insurance cover. This level of cover offers the highest level of protection for the policyholder, even paying out on the vehicle if the accident was your fault. In addition to this it also offers all of the benefits of third party, fire, and theft cover, and is the most expensive level of auto insurance cover.

So, how can you try and cut the cost of your insurance premiums at a time when finances are already strained enough for most households? One thing that could save you money is to go for the lower level of auto insurance cover, as this will save you money on your premiums, although you should do this only if you have an older, cheaper car.

Another way to cut the cost of cover is to shop around and compare premiums from different providers. You will find that the prices can be very different from one provider to another, so by shopping around you can save a small fortune on the cost of your insurance.

The easiest way to compare the cost and benefits of cover is to go online, as you will find a wide range of insurance companies operating online, and this means you get great choice as well as value for money.

There are a number of price comparison sites in operation online too, which means that you can see at a glance which policies are best suited to your needs and your pocket

There are a number of other ways in which you can save on the cost of cover, which includes taking your pass plus test if you have recently passed your test, or by taking on a vehicle with a smaller engine.

You will find that these steps help you to enjoy greater affordability when it comes to driving, as they can really cut the cost of your cover.

Tips For New Drivers to Beat Insurance Costs

By Alex Gregory

Pressures on new and young motorists are heightening with a price comparison website revealing a 17-year-old male can now expect to pay £2,841 for car insurance - £1,200 more than a female driver of the same age. To add to their financial woes, 53 per cent of learner drivers are taking more than one driving test meaning more outlay on lessons and tests.

When it comes to car insurance, young drivers pay the price for reputation with figures from the Association of British Insurers showing that 18-year-olds are responsible for around 50 collisions on the UK's roads every day. Men are penalised heavily because Home Office statistics show they commit nine times as many motoring offences as women.

However, you don't have to pay a ludicrously high premium for car insurance - there are ways to win favour with the insurers and reduce premiums:

Pick your car carefully.Choose a vehicle with a low insurance group, a small engine and avoid modifications.

Type of policy.Don't pay over the odds for comprehensive cover if your vehicle has a low value. A third party, fire and theft policy can help to reduce the cost of young driver car insurance.

Security. Look to enhance security by asking your insurer if it can recommend an immobiliser or alarm system in return for a discount. Park in a garage overnight or at least in a well-lit area.

Mileage limit. If you don't need to drive during the commuter rush hour inform your insurer. Also consider a mileage limit if you plan to use the car for limited periods.

Drive safely. Stay accident free to build up a no-claims discount. Many insurers offer rapid-bonus schemes to young drivers.

it's crucial to shop around online for cheap car insurance - a car insurance comparison tool could compare quotes from over 70 insurance companies in minutes.

Cheaper Car Insurance Because Of High Gas Prices?

By Tod F.

Nearly everyone knows all about the high gas prices we have all been experiencing and the negative effects that they have had on paychecks, travel plans, and family budgets. The rising cost of fuel has caused the prices for a lot of other items, especially food items, to raise in price as well. This has put a lot of stress on Americans bank accounts. The auto insurance industry, however, may actually begin to see prices for policies going down in the near future. As long as gas prices are still high, people will be traveling fewer miles to save money, and riding public transportation and car pooling. Let's take a look at how this can be possible.

More and more people are looking for alternative means of transportation in the wake of the expensive prices of gasoline. Public transit has seen increases in use, co-workers are now carpooling to get to work, and vacations are being cancelled or combined with other trips in order to drive fewer miles which in turn uses fewer gallons of gas. With people driving fewer miles per trip, or not driving altogether by relying on public transportation or carpooling, there are less vehicles on the road. By making the assumption that less cars on the roads would lead to less accidents, which seems reasonable to think, then that would in turn mean fewer claims are being filed to insurance companies which would allow for lower rates. This line of thinking is precisely what leads to lower auto insurance rates.

Because people are riding the bus to work instead of driving, or taking a tour bus to their vacation destination with several other families as opposed to driving there alone, less accidents are going to happen. The more cars on the road, the more accidents that will occur. After all, the road is going to remain the same size regardless of how many cars are on it. Fewer accidents leads to fewer injuries which means your insurance company is not having to pay out as much money for injury payments. This primary factor allows the auto insurance companies to lower rates. Lower rates for low mileage drivers is nothing new; companies have been giving discounts for driving under a set amount of miles for years, it's just that now with gas being so expensive, more and more drivers will fall into the "low mileage driver" category simply because they cannot afford to drive as much as before.

Now before you get too excited about this drop in insurance rates, don't expect to be saving a lot of money in the long run. If you look at your car payment, insurance payment, and gasoline bill as one big "car expense," the drop in insurance rate will most likely be outweighed by the steep rise of your gasoline bill and the savings will be gone as soon as you fill up your next tank.

Auto Insurance - Will Getting Married Lower Your Rates?

By Tod F.

Ah, marriage. The greatest day of your life (hopefully) is your wedding day. The preparations have been made and thus far everything seems to be expensive. The wedding ceremony, the reception after, the honeymoon, everything is costing you a lot of money. With any luck, you've been able to save for the event but remember that after the big day the prices continue to rise. The grocery bill goes up, you're buying for two now (at least). The water bill, electric bill, probably your credit card bill. Everything is on the rise with your newest addition, your partner. You thought that after getting married everything would be picture perfect, and it may be, except for your finances. But all hope is not lost, because there is one expense that may actually go down because you got married, your auto insurance premium.

That's right, auto insurance. A bit unexpected I am sure, but your new life adventure is looked at as a good thing with auto insurance companies. Being married, your life is suddenly more stable and safe because as a husband or wife you have a whole new set of responsibilities and not only your commitment to your spouse but your commitment to making life as good as possible for both of you. Especially for males, you'll find that you're driving more carefully with your wife in the car because you want to protect her from everything, including other drivers. This good driving habit can lead to a squeaky clean driving record which translates into savings on your policy. If you both had fully comprehensive coverage separately, for example, and now that you are married you want to combine coverage for easier paperwork, you can keep the same coverage and potentially save money on the price just for being married. Be careful when combining coverage however, because if one of you has had an accident or violation in the past, that infraction could mean a higher cost for both of you. In that case, it may be best to keep separate policies until the accident or violation has cleared from the driving record.

A lot of married couples like to completely start fresh and move into a new home or apartment. By doing so, if you're moving into a new zip code or new city altogether, this could provide another discount for your auto insurance. By moving, you may be located closer to your job or even the grocery store, which equals less miles driven and a lower chance for an accident. Insurance companies take this into consideration and may reward you with a lower rate. If you move significantly closer, you may qualify for a low mileage discount if your company offers it which would provide additional savings. If you're planning to have children soon, you may want to cut into the amount you're saving and consider raising your coverage levels to protect your new bundle of joy. Of course when it comes to protecting a new child or your spouse, the money does not matter, as long as everyone is safe.

Now that the vows have been exchanged, the cake is gone, and you are left with the new (expensive) adventure that is married life, take comfort in knowing that at least one of your payments won't go up; your auto insurance payment.

Auto Insurance - Why Not to Cancel During Tough Times

By Tod F.

It is a thought a lot of us have had. Dropping your car insurance policy to save yourself the added expense and to have money to spend on "more important" things. Doing so seems harmless, considering you probably only plan on dropping it for a short period of time, but rest assured there may be serious repercussions for your actions.

First and foremost, one primary reason you do not want to cancel your auto insurance policy because you are required by law to have one if you are an active driver. So, by cancelling, at this point you would be breaking the law, which is never a good thing. Not getting in accidents is just one of many obstacles you would have to avoid in order to not get caught. Being pulled over for speeding is a surefire way of getting caught with no insurance. In addition, several states set up surprise checkpoints in order to catch drivers that are not abiding by the laws. Sure, the checkpoint may be for seat belts or to check if people are driving under the influence, but while they have you stopped they will check for insurance as well. Insurance companies will sometimes report to either the auto finance company or onto an uninsured motorist list that police officers now have the ability to run your license plate number and receive a report back stating your insurance status. If the check comes back positive for you being an uninsured driver, they will waste no time in pulling you over to question it. Because of the law requiring insurance, getting caught without can result in stiff penalties.

Getting caught without car insurance could result in a fine you have to pay, your drivers license being suspended, or even having to spend time in jail. Paying a fine would defeat your original purpose for cancelling your policy, to save money. Having a suspended license means you would be committing another crime if you choose to continue driving, in addition to the fact that you probably would not be opening an insurance policy before you drive either. As for spending time in jail, well, we all know what that is, and no one wants to go there. On top of the fines you may face, your car may be impounded as well and guess what that means, more money out of your pocket. First, the car can stay impounded until you pay for the original fine, but for as long as the car is impounded, you will be charged a daily fee for that as well. The cost could go very high in a very short period of time.

The law that requires that you carry auto insurance is not the only reason you want to keep your policy as opposed to cancelling it. The policy you have is there to protect you, your family, your car, and your finances. If you cancel the policy and get into an accident while uninsured, and the accident is your fault, not only will you have to pay to repair or replace your car, and pay for medical expenses for your family, you will also be responsible for the damage to the other vehicle or property as well as their medical expenses. When the accident is filed on a police report, they will see that you're uninsured as well and you'll receive the fines, suspension, etc. also.

If any of this were to happen and you decide to do the right thing and open an insurance policy again, expect to pay even higher prices than before with your new company. Having the bad record of driving without insurance, you will be deemed a high risk driver and your premiums will be considerably higher than they ever were before.

The point to be taken here is to not cancel your auto insurance policy and continue to drive without it for any reason. If the reason is to save money, you won't. You will end up paying probably ten times what you are currently spending. Do yourself a favor, do your family a favor, and do the other drivers out on the road a favor and keep your coverage. We all experience tough times, but try budgeting in other areas and don't take the huge risk of dropping your coverage. If you are currently driving without auto insurance, do the right (and smart) thing and get another policy. Start with a quote, they are free, and you can see the prices for several companies and from there determine which one is right for you Avoid the huge mistake that will extend far beyond your financial troubles and keep that insurance policy open regardless because it is simply not worth it to go without.

Things You Need to Know About Auto Moving Insurance

By Shiji Shijina

Car shipping from one place to another can be a tedious task, however this task becomes easy if the companies provides an insurance for your valuable car in case your valuable car is insured. Insurance relieves almost the burden of loss in case any uncertain events occur. Almost all the companies engaged in car moving provide the insurance facility for the object to be transported; however the coverage range differs from one company to another. Hence it is better to do some research before you decide on company which will transport your vehicle.

Any auto transport company which has a license of auto transporting activities will have cargo and insurance liability also. It is important that your car needs to have a clear idea about the insurance coverage because if your car gets damaged on the road then in such a situation you will definitely require the insurance coverage. However this is not something that is going to happen certainly but it is always better to be safe than to worry in the future. The first step which you can probably take to make sure that your vehicle is insured or not is to ask the auto transporters to show you the documents, and please do remember that if you are going to feel shy now then you would definitely repent in future. Don't be obliged until you don't see the documents with your own eyes, oral promises should not given any room for consideration in such cases it is always better that you ask for proofs. In case there are any doubts still persisting then there is no harm in double checking with the insurance company of the auto transporters.

Sometimes it may so happen that the auto transport company may provide you very little insurance coverage, it may be less than the actual worth of your car. In such cases it is necessary that you enquire with their insurance company about the exact terms and conditions. You will need to know the following terms:

Can there be a provision of buying additional coverage?

What is the limited coverage value?

Are all the components of the vehicle are covered or are there any exceptions on certain components which will not be covered?

What damages would be covered by the insurance?

It is important that the car moving company provides you insurance against the theft and damage. It would be better that you possess a hard copy of the insurance coverage documents. Remember that you ask for the kind of coverage which would be provided on the existing policy.

Before you give your vehicle to the movers it is important that you remove all your personal possessions from the car, because not many companies provide the coverage on loss of any such personal possessed articles.

How to Find the Best Rates For Your Volvo Car Insurance

By Rudy Van Lancker

In trying to find any type of car insurance, it is always best to first call your existing broker or insurance company and then to query other companies by researching on the internet and reading related websites. The procedure is no different for Volvo car insurance.

Assuming the Volvo car owner has an established driving history and previous insurance, it should not be too difficult to obtain Volvo car insurance. And if the customer is a first time car insurance buyer, then holding a home insurance policy will help to get a small discount.

Volvos, in general, tend to be family oriented vehicles. This point will place the car in a different insurance classification than for instance sports cars or other high performance vehicles. Therefore, Volvo car insurance premiums should be lower than higher end luxury brands.

Indeed, Volvo owners have the same enthusiasm as Harley Davidson motorcycle riders. They both love their vehicles and actually join groups to talk about their purchases. This is an added advantage when shopping for Volvo car insurance because larger clubs and organizations are able to negotiate discounted pricing from insurers. Large membership numbers make attractive potential customers to the Volvo car insurance companies. By providing stated and agreed upon savings, the insurance company is able to attract more qualified inquiries.

Another way to save money on Volvo car insurance is buy a model that is a year older. For example, if the new cars are available for purchase but the dealership still has older models on the lot for the present or past year, it might be cheaper both in the purchase price of the car and the Volvo car insurance premium to buy the older version.

Security equipment such as anti-theft alarms and steering wheel locks also combine with other discounts to reduce the Volvo car insurance rate. Using the car for personal driving and non-commercial uses is less expensive than if the vehicle is a business car. And do not forget to compare deductibles when shopping around. If there is a substantial savings between five hundred and one thousand dollar deductibles, it might be wiser to take the discount, opting for the higher deductible.

One point of which a Volvo owner should be careful, especially with the station wagon model, do not make it sound like you are operating the vehicle for commercial purposes. For example, you do not want to sound like you transport cargos for your job or profit and when taking the kiddies to soccer, just because you have a large group, you are not a taxi service. Although you definitely need the right amount of coverage and personal protection in the event of an accident, at the same time, there is no reason to pay for needless coverage.

Finally, in order to continue with a premium rate for your Volvo car insurance, maintain excellent driving habits and enforce rules inside the vehicle. Do not allow children to travel without proper seat carriers, do not let pets ride unrestrained, and make sure all adults wear seat belts. Should an accident occur, aside from the most important point of keeping everyone safe, you want to protect your good driving standards and anticipate more discounts when you renew your Volvo car insurance.

Teaching Learner Drivers, You Need Driving School Insurance

By Rakesh Gaikwad

Being a driving school instructor is one of the toughest jobs around. It's nothing short of a tightrope walk, balancing the teaching and also keeping an eye on the traffic. In spite of the careful watch, the driving vehicle may meet with frequent accidents, especially when pupils are at the wheel. The vehicle may also need repairing every other day with the wear and tear of learning. One thing, which the driver can rely on in these trying circumstances, is driving school insurance.

1 day test cover is the most important cover among all the driving school policies. One day test cover helps the driver, as it is a short term insurance available for immediate needs. Though called 'One day test cover', the period can range anywhere between one day to 28 days.

Cheaper premiums nudge the instructor to get a comprehensive one day test cover for new cars. One day test cover also works well for the instructors, as they easily qualify - one of the key requirements for the cover is being over 25 years of age.

Even the pupil's car driven by the instructor is covered under the Driving School Insurance. Some of the benefits of the Driving school Insurance, in addition to the above, may or may not include:

• Coverage for under-age learners

• Dual control replacement vehicle in non-fault accidents: (No fault accidents - Accidents that happen due to carelessness and conditions not within the control of the driver. In no fault accidents, the victim may be in a more serious condition than the vehicle. No fault accidents were introduced as insurance companies tried to escape paying damages when the vehicle wasn't damaged though the victim was hurt. Now, the repaired vehicle is delivered within the same day or 24 hours.)

• All parts of the car (like windshield, tyres and seats) included in the cover

• Public liability cover to meet third party damage to properties or person

• Twenty four hour service

• Cover for previously banned drivers

• Insurance cover for the complete driving fleet

• Cover for mock-tests conducted by the driving school

• Claims could be sought notwithstanding previous ones

• No-claim bonus

• Cover includes theft and fire

• Legal protection available immediately

The instructor taking the insurance, whether it is the One day test cover or a comprehensive insurance cover, has to look out for the best deals available in the market. The history of the company in covering the costs should be studied carefully. Drivers need to watch out for the tricky words hidden in small print. There may be exception for a temporary cover in schemes like the one day test cover. Most of the insurance companies do not cover hired vehicles. They also exclude vehicles used to carry luggage and goods. In turn, the information given by the instructor should be accurate, including previous incidence of accidents. The vehicles should be registered in the UK and only approved instructors are covered under the driving school insurance.

DIA Insurance is a professional service and expert advice with many years of experience in providing all the driving school policies. It also provides Driving School Insurance and One day test cover which offers you the best possible to cover and advice whatever to your circumstances.

Riding With Green Car Insurance

By Rakesh Gaikwad

With global warming becoming more of a threat than ever, the need for people to chose something a little more friendly to the environment when purchasing a new motor vehicle is more important than it has ever been.

Motoring around in an eco friendly automobile depends mostly on how much the driver wishes to do to what is best for the greater good. However, new studies indicate that there is a reason of even greater importance for motorists to purchase a green car. Green car insurance is tackling the feat of offsetting damage caused by vehicles that are not friendly to the environment by donating a portion of policy premiums to charities that are fighting the battle against global warming.

Green car insurance is a rapidly growing phenomenon, and it seems that green car insurance companies are steadily becoming more and more competitive. Drivers of automobiles that have high emissions should consider green car insurance providers in your search for insurance cover. It seems that the general consensus among motorists is to change the things the way things are some direction needs to come from the country's government. For example, the government could cut the Insurance Premium Tax on green cars as incentive. Today, drivers generally pay about £50 extra for cover on a green car; it is as if drivers are being punished for purchasing green cars. This is not much of an incentive to go green.

Cheaper insurance cover quotes would definitely be a step in the right direction, but for drivers who are being put off by the present green car insurance quotes, the main attraction is the financial savings. By purchasing a vehicle with low emissions, which is more economical, emitting 17% less carbon dioxide, then the fuel-operated equivalents, drivers of green cars are reaping the benefits and cutting costs on fuel by as much as £165 each year and the road taxes are each being cut by £125.

The car insurance industry has planned in advance and is already making way for a more cost friendly green solution and offering the best cover quotes. For instance, when they offer new products, the insurance providers now offer to donate to green charities and invest in green technology as a way of offsetting the damage caused from car emissions.

With this new way of thinking that has been adopted by insurance providers and commercial realities, there is no better time than the present to purchase a green car. With the cost of petrol rising to new heights almost daily, drivers are finding themselves more and more interested in a fuel-efficient green car with lower tax. Customers are finding out first hand that not only are these new green cars better for their wallet but they are also better for the environment as well. Everyone in the UK should be thinking about what they can do to improve the environment and a great place to start is with the purchase of a new green car and green car insurance.

Driving School Business? Driving School Insurance is a Must

By Rakesh Gaikwad

You are planning to start a new business-A driving school. The vehicles have already been purchased, the instructors are ready and the location is the ideal place you were looking for. But have you got Driving School Insurance? If not, do it. For a thriving driving school business, driving insurance is a must.

Driving school insurance is aimed at the instructor who would have to reel under the stress of minor accidents all the time. Driving instructor insurance adds value and saves money in the long run. How? The insurance covers - all parts of the car, the entire fleet of vehicles, damages from fire or in the event of theft, damages to the parts of the car, and even legal protection. Some insurance companies also offer no-claim bonuses, and cover the instructor in a pupil's car at the time of the accident.

One day test cover insurance comes in handy during mock tests or drive, or on lesson days. They are very important and instructors usually go for 1 day test cover during test drives. These types of insurance are immediate and extend from a single day to 28 days. One day test cover insurance also works well for a new car, temporary or hired vehicle.

The precautions while going for driving school insurance include:

• Check out the premium costs. Higher premiums can eat into the profit of the company.

• Read all the instructions carefully, even the ones in small print, as they may have hidden costs and charges.

• Do a lot of research on the different companies offering insurance. Check their websites.

• Talk to other driving school instructors

• If you don't understand the technical clauses, ask for an explanation

• See if there is complete cover for loss of the vehicle

• Check to see if the insurance covers non-fault accidents (accidents that happen through no fault of

the instructor. This was introduced to prevent insurance companies evade paying the insurance cover when the vehicle is relatively undamaged, though the instructor is).

• Talk to the experts in the insurance company you are interested in.

Some of the insurance companies also calculate the insurance premium individually for the instructors. This may work out well for small driving schools, as the cost of the premiums would be less. Car Insurance Just Got a Little Greener

By Rakesh Gaikwad

These days everyone you meet is trying to find a way to make their lives a bit more eco friendly, and there are lots and lots of ways to get it done. Years ago, doing your part to save the environment involved recycling bottles and changing all the light bulbs in your house to those energy saving bulbs. Now here we are years later, and there are all sorts of new and exciting ways to preserve the earth. Holiday businesses give you the chance to make up for the carbon emissions that come from your plane ride by paying a small fee that can be used to help plant more trees.

Grocery stores have introduced incentives for you to save and reuse your plastic shopping bags for you next trip to the store. Banks provide you with the opportunity to have a small amount deducted from your account and donated to a number of eco friendly causes. It seems that everywhere you look, there are more and more ways to add a little more green to your life and now that even extends on to your automobile.

Driving motor vehicles has never been perceived as environment friendly. Actually, motoring around in your car was determined to be at the top of the list of the worst things you could do to the environment. This was especially the case with any four-wheel drive vehicles. These vehicles that were once considered to be reserved for country folk and then the latest accessory for all the young trendy football mums, were enemies of the environment.

Now, things have begun to change. First, there are the new lines of green cars that are now available on the market, including fuel hybrids that are suppose to cause less pollution than cars of the past. Then we have the little city cars running on electricity that produce way less pollution. For a brief time, auto-gas was offered as an option for a lower cost and less pollution.

These days there are websites popping up all over the Internet with advice on the green car selection process to help you pick the ideal green car options for you. It is not just the young crowd getting involved anymore; green cars are becoming popular with folks of all ages.

Therefore, it is not a surprise with the way the world is heading, that with the addition of green cars so comes green car insurance.

Green car insurance was built on the idea of "reduce, recycle and reuse" and remains true by recycling as much of the metal from a car as possible, once a write off is issued.

They also encourage their customers to use reconditioned parts for their cars when possible. This may very well become the new standard in car insurance, with customers being rewarded for their action with discounts. If the green trend continues as it has been, there is no doubt all of our car insurance will be getting a littler greener.

Auto Insurance Premium Explained

By Millard Hiner

When it comes to signing up for insurance, auto premium rates are of great concern to consumers, as they want to save as much as they can on their policies. Therefore, many will search the various insurance options and look for quotes online to compare. Interestingly enough, the cost can vary greatly from one provider to another, and it is difficult to point a finger on the reason behind this. Several factors actually affect the insurance auto premium, and any one of these may incur different policy requirements through different providers.

One of the factors that may cause a variation is the deductibles chosen for your insurance. Auto premium rates go down when you increase the deductible you are willing to pay because it means less out of pocket cost for the insurance provider should you have an accident or incur damage to your vehicle. Therefore, you experience savings based on taking the calculated risk of having to come up with a larger sum of cash when you do have a wreck. While states mandate maximums for deductibles, some providers require the insured to carry lower deductibles than those mandated by state law, which means that the policies through these companies would cost more.

Another issue to consider is the calculations and formulas used by the provider of your insurance. Auto premiums are arrived at based on several aspects of the client, including age, experience, and driving record. While all affect insurance the same way (lack of experience, young age, and a bad driving record will increase the premium you pay), not all providers use the same formula, which can lead to a different in your insurance auto premium.

Believe it or not, cost of insurance can also vary based on location. Because more drivers are on the road in certain places or because statistics show a larger number of accidents in a specific area, the insurance provider is taking a greater calculated risk in covering someone under such conditions. Therefore, they increase the insurance auto premium based on your region. By the same token, they will also charge higher when you drive more. Take note that, for vehicles not driven on a daily basis, many companies offer discounts for "weekend vehicles", insuring them at a lower rate because they are used less frequently in conditions with lighter traffic.

Next time you compare insurance auto premium rates, be aware of these types of differences and read the fine print so that you can more easily compare apples to apples, with all the categorical information being the same across the board.

Is There Affordable Car Insurance For Drunk Drivers?

By Maria Mbura

While drinking and driving is a big issue everywhere UK drink drivers can still get themselves insured properly, but it will cost a lot more for comprehensive coverage most of the time, and also depending on how many offenses there has been.

But what is more important is that there is a crackdown from a new police initiative. In Staffordshire, the police force is looking into a pub ban for those who drink and drive and have been caught. This would not only keep more drunk drivers off the road, but this would also become an extra deterrent for those who are thinking about drinking and driving after a night out at the pub.

The major problem with the pub ban is that pubs are threatening to raise their prices if this happened because they will get less customers. This is something that many people will be against. Most people believe that they should not have to pay more at the pubs just because of someone else's mistake. The police only want to use this as a deterrent to drinking and driving, not to put businesses in trouble. But to keep drivers from drinking and then getting behind the wheel, police officers think that this is a good idea. But this does cause concern for those who are looking to keep their car insurance rates affordable.

Once someone gets caught driving drunk their car insurance rates immediately go up. But there is hope for those who are looking to move past their mistake and get affordable car insurance. UK drunk drivers are not always repeat offenders, so those who have made only one mistake will eventually have their car insurance rates brought back down, but with further action from the police and the idea of a pub ban, this could put drivers in hot water for much longer time than they expected.

If you have been caught drinking and driving, you will want to look into affordable insurance that does not penalize you for the mistakes that you have made in the past. You will also want to look into plans that offer a no claims discount so that you can get better rates further along the line. This is a great way to save money and still get the car insurance coverage that you need.
